the songwriter

Brian Hau 是從前大學時代的朋友,多年沒見,只是間中從其他人口中得知一二,今晚他在Chapter 3的album launch party也是契囡告訴我才知道。原來,他已經推出了個人大碟「definition」。雖然以前也有一起唱K、見過他夾band,但聽他公開演唱,今次還是頭一次。

再次見面,感覺很有趣,從前的小伙子(其實很大份的小伙子),上下午的課還要別人morning call,現在建立自己品牌,將理想變成事業,那是很多人遙不可及的夢想。而他如今抓到了,要將這目標加以實現,要告訴世界何謂 "brianhau"。

散之

在今日之前,我決定不再傷害某人。在今日之終,我已經重創了某人。

戀愛不是兩個人之間的事吧?還是每每牽涉很多人,每次我都能把所有因素計算進去,過去未來現在年齡家庭背景學歷工作國籍,所有理性的分析比較,都不及一件事重要:心。沒有心的愛,只是在受苦。

愛不是做出來的,是由心底裡發出來,由心去驅動。

為了不傷害她們,為了不為難自己,不惜狠狠地去傷害她們,狠狠地去為難自己。這還是愛的表現吧?


「天下無不散之筵席」,那唯有不入席才不會散吧。

還是習慣暗戀,沒期望沒失望,無始無終,沒撒過種不會開花沒有結果。

alarm countdown

I've been using both PC and mobile as my alarm clock for some time. The alarm program on PC can memorize my settings and ring automatically on every Monday to Friday. The downside is that when a weekday is holiday (or my day-off).

On my mobile, however, I've to set alarm manually every night. It has a little feature, a bonus, it tells you how many hours and minutes left. And most of the time, I got 5 or 6, sometimes 4.

Some days ago I got an 8. But an hour before the time came, I woke up.


Tonight it is a 6 something. And after finishing this post, it's 5 somethings.

Deck - number of cards remain in deck.
Score - number of Sets player made, +1 for each correct Set, vice verus -1.
Move - number of possible move/Set on screen. when it becomes zero (0), press Options > Deal.

the Set game for mobile (3)

Toys'R Us does not have the Set nor Duo for sell. But I found UNO H2O on sale with 20% off the tag price. Now I see why the owner of the cards prohibited us to bend them.

Set on Mobile, ver. 0.02.05 - something that can play with, finally.

To honor the SET Enterprises Inc., the icon use the original box design. To reserve more space, the patterns and card are smaller. Some statistics will be put on the right-hand-side later (such as # of cards remain/pick-up). The check algorithm is done. If I add a big loop into it, the computer should able to tell me the number of possible SETs on table. Still thinking about the difficulties, whether an easier game (or harder game) possible.

I ordered the card games at Amazon, together with another one - Duo, something like UNO with more features. However, Amazon told me that they cannot be shipped to Hong Kong. Wat!? Why? Oh well, I have to visit Toys'R Us later.

There is no progress on my mobile version. Still struggling (not working) on the data structure of card and deck. Even so, I already have a piece of code that can generate cards with m features and n variants. And I have think about how to lay out the cards on screen, esp when it's too crowd to show the whole card. This is my weakness - spend too much time on the very detail part, dragging the whole development process.

I should make it simpler - object(card and deck) should only hold data, engine handle game logic and calculation. Putting calculation code on object will results in larger object and hence wasting memory, esp when it is not neccessary and not too reasonable to do so.

生死有命

似乎人造的東西,沒一樣是長久的,沒有永遠正常,沒有永遠運作,沒有永遠可靠。


商場的扶手電梯大約十七八年前落成,期間有沒有更換過部份零件、甚至整台換過,不知道。早些年常常在外地,它們有沒有經常維修,不知道。只知道近年來周不時都維修,而且總是挑早上十時停用,就是我出門的時間。維修時行人就要改用後樓梯,有些人就等電梯,總之麻煩。最厲害的是連續兩層的扶手電梯都停用。最近一次,它又停用了,今次,一停就十日。

已經太舊嗎?「醫番都嘥藥費」?或者,換部全新的比較化算。

不過,新高科技的產品也不能保証運作正常,就好似地鐵列車幕門不時失靈。


是產品推得太快,技術未追得上,以致很多都不成熟?還是世界變得太快,反正產品還未壽終就會過氣,故此要快快的推,成熟不成熟沒所謂了嗎?公司剩下很多CRT芒,雖然都是100% work,某些是新的,但被新技術(LCD)取締了。單看我一人就能獨攬了兩個CRT可知一二,反正,就是沒人會用的。

凡是人造的,生死有命,淘汰有時。

Hardware的cycle或許算長,只要有零件替換,或有新software,還是得以苟存。反之,Software的cycle短,總是被新版完全取代,沒有零件升級這個options。

這是programming的悲哀嗎?努力於瞬間即逝的事。

生日祝福,很貴哦

某次玩「收買佬遊戲」,其中一項收買的是「沒人慶祝其生日的人」,剛巧有事出去一下,返回時見到很多人都站出來了。嘩,這到底有幾成真的?


舊時唸大學時,那時的姊妹生日一定會大肆慶祝,請食飯送禮物,不在話下,出席的人數多,有一半是兄弟。反過來兄弟生日時食飯,出席的人少,大半兄弟,禮物嗎?哼,有飯食就好食喇,過多幾年無得食咯。唉,對比還真大。

唸書時窮,卻要請食西餐湊禮物錢,送給那永遠會記不起你的壽星仔女。


雖然去年他們也有為我慶祝,但其實我只是配角加順手,反正遲了兩個幾月,說啥做啥都難再動聽,忘了就是忘了。也罷,早半個世紀就看破了。最重要是還有一個老友兄弟記得,年年都請我食餐勁既,或者係得佢有記性,又或者同佢先有緣。


婚宴喪禮都有份客人簽名單,我不知有啥用,我估是要主家人記恩,記住某年某月某日某君曾到訪。生日嘛,就有張生日卡(原來寫生日卡很重要)


有人話科技將遠距離通訊拉近,那是否意味將近距離通訊扯遠了?有ICQ、MSN、SMS,為何發個message就咁難呢?有mini-directory、PDA、SmartPhone,為何要記得某君生日就咁難呢?也罷,早半個世紀就看破了。所以,我的ICQ裡沒有填生日日子。


開始明白為何有人喜歡單獨約壽星仔女食飯,至少,表明自己係有心的。


說真的,一句生日的祝福,很貴哦。




而今年,我中左個頭獎呢。

the Set game for mobile

My friend showed me a card game, The Set. It is fun and is good exercise to brain and eyes. I'm trying to buy it in stores, Toys'R Us? Meanwhile, I'm working on a mobile version, so that play on road. Hopefully finish it by weekend.

No plan for A.I. nor for sell. So far it's for peronsal usage. There'll be a timer (later) for self-competition. There might be a hard level in which newly dealed cards will not form a set (except the last 3 cards). There might be 1 extra pattern for each feature. Anyway, just for fun.

我認得你

又有人同我講「我認得你」,而我的回應照舊是「吓?唔係嘛?」

一般來說,認識一個人是雙方的事,該彼此見到對方同時第一次、第二次。但我記憶裡見對方的第一次,對其他人來說都是第n次了。

記得第一次有人同我講「我認得你」是唸大學的事。當時團契後一定會去食宵夜,其中有個人話認得我,話讀同一所中學,都認識某某等。我感到很愕然,我老是以為自己很不顯眼,很少和人交談,就好似炒單車而拐著走路的一個禮拜裡,沒人和我說過一句話。

某日收到封e-mail,還以為係junk mail想刪除,原來發信的是團契的組員。通訊好幾次,其實佢係邊個我都唔知,好奇心驅使下,又開始返團契,睇下邊個咁得閒理我呢d閒人。原來早大半年前就被介紹過了。

最近一次,團契裡又有人話「我認得你」,甚至乎係早兩代團契的事了。那不是五六年前麼?我還以為我在這所教會團契只存在過兩年而已。而且佢仲有相為證!睇黎我比現在的團友更「老餅」了。

或者我轉行做保險,而認得我的人都同我簽一張單,可能夠我一年的quota了。又或者認得我的人都向我擲個一蚊銀,都足夠活埋我了。(唔,要擲的,不如擲張廿蚊紙啦)

Today I became a member of Blogger. It seems to be the perfect match to my requirements: photos, editable time of post, multiple blogs, and most important - free of charge. I've tried several blog-sites earlier but none can fulfill my requirements.


Going online isn't surfing anymore. I'd say, it's wandering. And I'd be here.

I'm going to merge most, if not all, posts from my previous blogs into this Wanderland. This should keep me busy for the next few weeks. And there is another blog page. Please feel free to look up my profile.

free backup phone and accessories

今晚去踩rollar時,換了銀包,只帶身份證和八達通,換了手機,只帶部舊8250,有咩碰撞都無咁傷,而且還方便點。電池雖舊,還可以用,一晚該沒問題。

「後備手機」很普遍,很多人都有,但多數是舊換新時剩餘的舊機,當需要它時,可能時間太趕沒充電,或者電池失效,甚至整台壞了,我全都試過。其實很多operators都有「零機價」的手機,目的是留住客戶,針對那些不肯/不會花大錢買新款手機、無法因新機捆合約去綁住的客戶群。既然operators想賺我們的錢,我們何不反過來利用它們呢?

假若評估未來一兩年都極不會轉台,也不打算換新手機的,大可選擇一台「免費手機」作為後備。假若這台免費手機與你的手機使用相同配件,這等於給你後備原廠配件(如電池和充電器),它們的價值可能等於預繳價的一半。

至於舊型號的、電池又壞或者被淘汰了,除非很有感情,否則,還是trade-in吧。我和我的8250很有感情呢。

圖中的Nokia 1600使用BL-5C電池,與八成同牌子的手機相同,原廠電池已等於預繳價三成,可以考慮。

Block Recognizer

近日研究緊Pocket PC上的輸入法,想在中文版PPC上加入Block Recognizer同埋大易輸入法。搵左幾日,大易似乎是「無行」了,真係要的話,可能自己寫會更快更直接。

Block Recognizer是最近似Graffiti的英文輸入法,只有英文機附有,中文機就沒有。從網上資料及刷了英文ROM的舊機上,證實了要使用Block Recognizer,最關鍵就是msim.dll這個ROM file。只要把相關的檔案和Registry的值加入到中文機裡,理論上是可以使用它的。可惜,網上沒有這個file,從英文機裡又沒法copy出來。 唉,有乜計?

rollar skating rink

其實今晚很累,不過宵夜後卻覺得有力氣,一口氣由炮台山頭行到北角尾,就是要視察一下這個滾軸溜冰場。坐車經過很多次,覺得這個場並不大,但當置身於其中,才發覺這個場大得很,尤其對於像我只懂加速、不懂煞停的,已很足夠了。這個月還是要來一次。

有冇試過靈光一閃就有個idea,是從來沒有人做過,至少是從未遇見過的idea,當自己以為這個idea很棒,想去實行,但後來又覺得其實很傻,於是放棄,過了不多的日子,發現有人已經將這個idea付之實行,但其實又比不上自己原本的idea,又會覺得自己很聰明同時又很笨,很蠢卻又很精明。

有冇試過很想改變自己,以為世界會因此而改變,於是努力嘗試去改變,結果發現改變了自己,世界依舊;很想維持現狀,以為努力就什麼都能保存,到頭來只有自己一成不變,世界已不復同;以為追上世界就能改造自己,努力後,無法改變的還是自己;以為與世隔絕就能保存真我,抑制著,被改造的原來是自己。

以為自己長大了.........跟本就沒啥分別;想著我還是我.........這個人我不認識。

依然固我;已不復同;還是一樣;再生死亡。


後記:想著要寫,就忘了想寫什麼;記得想寫什麼,還是忘了這個後記。

尋日同班friends去左西貢釣魚,雖說今次係第二次去釣魚,其實上次係中學旅行時,好似只係掂下條魚絲咁大把。認真去釣,都係第一次。估唔到,居然釣到一條「石狗公」,唔知係條魚蠢定係我手氣好呢,總之就爽啦。

早知釣魚咁好玩,以前在加拿大就去打獵,不過homestay family話怕有危險喎。


全日的收獲,其中一條係我不知就裡釣左上黎。

西貢對面海,似乎都幾多魚釣,下次搵個有利位置先。
最緊要係海邊無石,事關我次次都勾到石。
